Blood Spot Test. Recommended with symptoms of deficiency or excess (see The Hormone Balance Test link above). Best tested in concert with estradiol, as an imbalance of these two hormones is associated with major symptoms of menopause and disorders of the reproductive system.

It is recommended that Testosterone and SHBG be tested together to determine imbalances of testosterone and estrogen; an important indicator of Andropause onset and/or premature aging in men.

Blood Spot Test. LH is a hormone made and secreted in the brain from the anterior pituitary gland and it acts synergistically with follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). LH is a marker of menopause or andropause (male menopause) onset, along with FSH, and is often used to determine the underlying cause of infertility in both men and women, such as a low sperm count or lack of ovulation. It can also be used to diagnose pituitary disorders, and early or late puberty in children.

Blood Spot Test Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a hormone secreted by the adrenal glands that can be an indicator of stress levels and insulin resistance. Low DHEA can cause symptons such as mental fogginess and fatigue, and is associated with infertility, type 2 diabetes and aging. DHEA is a precursor to many of the steroid hormones.

FSH is a marker of menopause or andropause (male menopause) onset, along with LH, and is often used to determine the underlying cause of infertility in both men and women, such as a low sperm count or lack of ovulation. It can also be used to diagnose pituitary disorders, and early or late puberty in children.

Blood Spot Test. SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin) measurement is used as a relative index of overall exposure to all forms of estrogens, as an indirect index of estrogen interaction with the liver and as an indicator of bioavailable testosterone.

High levels indicate excess exposure to estrogens and lower bio-availability of testosterone to tissues. It is recommended that SHBG be tested along with testosterone in order to determine if there is an imbalance between testosterone and estrogen. Such an imbalance is an important indicator of Andropause onset and/or premature aging in men.
