This blood spot thyroid test kit is an overall assessment of thyroid function. Symptoms of thyroid deficiency can include weight gain, fatigue, dry skin, brittle hair and nails. Thyroid dysfunction can be a symptom of estrogen dominance and the risk of thyroid deficiency increases as we age. Test includes free thyroxine (fT4), free triiodothryronine (fT3), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPO).

Blood Spot Test. The most predominant of the estrogens. Testing is recommended with symptoms of estrogen deficiency or excess (see the link to The Hormone Balance Test, above). Best tested in concert with progesterone, as an imbalance of these two hormones is associated with major symptoms of menopause and disorders of the reproductive system. Testing is also recommended when supplementing with a compounded preparation of bioidentical estrogens containing estradiol (e.g. "Biest" preprations contain estradiol and estriol OR "Triest" preparations containing estradiol, estriol and estrone).

Blood Spot Test Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a hormone secreted by the adrenal glands that can be an indicator of stress levels and insulin resistance. Low DHEA can cause symptons such as mental fogginess and fatigue, and is associated with infertility, type 2 diabetes and aging. DHEA is a precursor to many of the steroid hormones.

Blood Spot Test. SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin) measurement is used as a relative index of overall exposure to all forms of estrogens, as an indirect index of estrogen interaction with the liver and as an indicator of bioavailable testosterone.

High levels indicate excess exposure to estrogens and lower bio-availability of testosterone to tissues. It is recommended that SHBG be tested along with testosterone in order to determine if there is an imbalance between testosterone and estrogen. Such an imbalance is an important indicator of Andropause onset and/or premature aging in men.

Blood Spot Test. Thyroxine is the main thyroid hormone produced by the thyroid. A well- regulated process causes thyroxine to generate the much more potent thyroid hormone T3 (Triiodothyronine).

Blood Spot Test. Measures the level of active thyroid hormone T3. This level must remain within optimal range to keep the body functioning properly and is crucial for maintaining physical and mental health.

Blood spot test. In 90% of patients with Hashimoto’s (autoimmune thyroiditis) TPO levels are elevated; indicator of other autoimmune disorders and polycystic ovaries.

Blood spot test. Measures the amount of thyroid hormone manufactured by the thyroid gland. General indication of thyroid activity. If you're only ordering one test for thyroid function, this would be the one to choose. High levels of TSH indicate that the brain and thyroid gland are working hard to raise thyroid levels, thus it indicates low thyroid. Very low levels of TSH may indicate thyroid excess, but it's wise to test other thyroid parameters if this is the case.

Blood Spot Test. Fasting insulin in blood spot for the detection of insulin resistance is collected in the morning after a 12-hour fast and before eating or drinking. High insulin can be a symptom of metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance and diabetes. Often caused by obesity and poor diet, markers of high insulin can include weight gain, water retention, high blood pressure, and low magnesium.

It can also be used to diagnose pituitary disorders, and early or late puberty in children.

Blood Spot Test. PSA is a protein produced by the prostate gland is an important indicator of prostatic enlargement or increased risk of prostate cancer. High PSA levels are a warning sign of prostate health risks. A normal PSA reading is prerequisite to initiating testosterone therapy.

Blood Spot Test. IGF-1 is important because it is a reliable indicator of human growth hormone (HGH). IGF-1 needs to be within the expected range for this reason: Low IGF-1 levels indicate HGH deficiency associated with rapid aging, decreased muscle and bone mass, slowing cognition, low libido and poor quality of life.
