Russell L. Blaylock M.D. on the Brain

russellblaylockmdA Brilliant Maverick Physician Who Dares to Tell the Truth

Russell L. Blaylock, M.D. has been thinking outside the box for decades, starting with his classic and still-relevant book Excitotoxins: The Taste that Kills, a searing indictment of aspartame, MSG and other toxins that harm the brain.

He has an excellent newsletter, The Blaylock Wellness Report, in which he covers topics as diverse as fluoride, autism, cholesterol and cancer. His feature articles are well researched, thorough and readable. However, Blaylock’s real niche is the brain; his in-depth understanding of brain biochemistry and the effects of toxicity on the brain is unmatched.

Blaylock’s last newsletter (April 09) was about Parkinson’s, a disease that killed both of his parents and thus inspired much of his passion for understanding the causes of brain degeneration. And, in fact, this last issue is about so much more than Parkinson’s; it’s about how a toxic insult to the brain can start a slow but sure cascade of brain degeneration that can be sped up by subsequent toxic exposures. But Blaylock doesn’t just leave us with the horror of what chronic pesticide exposure (for example) can do to brain cells, he also recommends solutions for healing the brain.

In the Parkinson’s issue, Dr. Blaylock gives a long list of supplements that can be taken to help heal a degenerating brain and various sources for finding them—but for someone with a fried brain it’s too much information! Fortunately he has recently developed his own brain repair formulas, which can be found at Newport Nutritionals.

Dr. Blaylock also has his own website/blog, Russell L. Blaylock, M.D. on which you’ll find his books, and revelatory articles and published papers about vaccinations, autism and the brain. Conventional medicine keeps assuring us that there is no connection between autism and vaccinations, and yet mothers with autistic children keep insisting there is a connection. I've always suspected the mothers know best. Dr. Blaylock gives rational, scientific evidence of the connection, and explores other factors that can combine to damage young brains.

So much of the health information available today is driven by corporate profits and/or big egos with “my amazing cure-of-the-month” syndrome. In that polluted atmosphere, Dr. Blaylock is a breath of fresh air.
